Great Resumes Fast » Job Search » Should I Copy and Paste My Resume to My LinkedIn Profile?

Sure, you can copy and paste your resume into your LinkedIn profile but I wouldn’t recommend it. Your LinkedIn profile and resume should complement one another and fit together like pieces of your professional networking and personal branding puzzle but shouldn’t be exactly the same.

If a hiring manager has your resume and wants to do a little research on you, having the exact same information pop up in your profile that they have in their hand is not going to do you any good. Yes, much of the information could be the same but ty to show something more and different in your LinkedIn profile that works with your resume to strengthen your professional brand and the value you offer employers.

Take advantage of some of the features that LinkedIn offers. You can link your website, blog, and twitter to your profile, showcase recommendations and join groups to expand your professional reach.

About the author

Jessica Hernandez, President, CEO & Founder of Great Resumes Fast

Hi, I’m Jessica. I started this company back in 2008 after more than a decade directing hiring practices at Fortune 500 companies.

What started as a side hustle (before that was even a word!) helping friends of friends with their resumes has now grown into a company that serves hundreds of happy clients a year. But the personal touch? I’ve kept that.

You might have seen me featured as a resume expert in publications like Forbes, Fast Company, and Fortune. And in 2020, I was honored to be named as a LinkedIn Top Voice of the year!

I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to help you find your next perfect-fit position!
