Executive Resume Writer

Amy Maerten

How many years of experience do you have as a resume writer? 11+ years as a professional resume writer. I started with GRF in 2010 and have stayed connected with Jessica since then. I am so very thankful that we met on Flexjobs.com. It was—and still is—a blessing!

How many years of experience do you have in recruiting, HR, or making hiring decisions (interviewing, screening, hiring)? As a retail manager from 1989 through 1997, I interviewed, hired, and trained staff continually. I also managed a staffing office in South Orlando for 4 years. There, I also recruited, screened, and placed applicants. We managed all HR functions including coaching our applicants and completing legal documents and background checks. There was a huge sales component to this position as I managed to secure employees and employers. This was a newly opened office in which I hired and led a team of account executives to grow our business to one of the most profitable branches in the company. That is a total of 12 years in recruiting and hiring.

What certifications do you hold? No official certifications as of now. Waiting for results on my PARCC certification review.

Degrees? Bachelor of Arts in French and English literature

Have you won any awards? I was awarded Branch of the Year for my first year as a staffing branch manager. This was for leading the branch to first-time sustainable profitability in my first 3 months.

Any additional accolades worth noting? I have been an independent and contracted professional resume writer for 11+ years and have written resumes and other professional documents for more than 800 people. My business reflects their satisfaction, as I work with mostly repeat and referral customers who come to me from recruiters and/or happy clients.

What’s your favorite career tip or piece of career advice you wish every job seeker knew? Be persistent and utilize as many channels as possible to get yourself noticed! Remember that you are interviewing companies as much as they are interviewing you.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing resumes and working with job seekers? I love sunshine and water and try to make time for beaches and boating. I also love spending time with friends, staying fit, and spending time with my 2 daughters. I usually have furry or feathered friends nearby when I work. Music is a huge part of my life—I have a cockatoo who loves to sing karaoke with me!
